- I hope you were joking when you typed the above sentences. In most of the
- competitive couples I have known, a romantic relationship outside the
- skating partnership is detrimental to both skating and romance. Russian
- couples seem to be able to marry their partners and work well together,
- Americans usually don't (based on my observations).
