- Looks like you have a thing for Flair kits. The Maggy is a popular plane
- in my club, power ranging from a very old OS40 FS ( bit marginal) to one
- with a Saito 90 twin, ( he said he had it laying around spare). Very nice
- flyers tho'.. I had one for 1 brief flight, I was pretty inexperienced at
- the time, pulled it out of a dive and the wings folded.. They do need to be
- flown slowly, and they can be quite aerobatic....
-
- The Puppeteer is also popular. They caan be made into a pretty good
- representation of a Pup... Covered with linen solartex and carrying a 4
- stroke they look absolutely great ona summer's eve, sun shining through the
- covering.....
-
- Anyway I digress... A 63" Spit is gonna need rather more urge than a 48
- Surpass can provide. It'll probably fly but you'll be very dissapointed.
- That's assuming it gets off the ground.. All the Spits I've seen take a
- lot of power to get up. They appear to be a real handfull on take off. I had
- a play once it was up and safe, very pleasant indeed.
-
- There's one this size, a Mick Reeves kit currently flying up our field, it
- has an ASP 75, tho' it used to fly ok with a Super Tigre 60. Not sure of
- it's weight, around 7-8lbs I think
-
- I personally would put a 90 Surpass in, but then I tend to err in favour of
- power. You can always throttle back... Alternatively the 70 Surpass would
- provide sufficient urge, you just won't have the power for big loops. I
- just love the 70 Surpass, it's probably my most used engine....
