- I too, don't know your interests, but since you posted in the
- rec.backcountry group I'll take a stab at it. Good backpacking trips in
- your area can be found in the southern part of the state, the Shawnee State
- Forest and the Zaleski State Forest. Both have developed backpacking 'loop'
- trails (42.8 and 23.5 miles, respectively) and can provide you with maps
- marked with conveniently spaced water sources, points of interest,
- sub-trails, day hikes, trail head parking, etc. I believe they are both
- within 3 hours (SW) of Columbus. I don't know the numbers off-hand, but I
- believe you can get them by calling the state tourist line; 1-800-BUCKEYE
- (I hope I spelled that right! I'm not originally from Ohio.)
- Enjoy your trip. Wish I could get off a few days to go somewhere. :-)
