- I've seen this kind of "since they screwed up [some component],
- everything of their's must suck" attitude before and I'd like to take a
- moment to rail against it.
- Audio companies have this habit of diversifying and producing all
- the components for your average system, despite the fact that frequently
- they only excel at one or two components.
- Look at Yamaha. Their AV amps are considered some of the best for
- the price, yet most people wouldn't touch their speakers with a ten-foot
- pole. In a somewhat similarein, if you ask stereo fascist what CD player
- to buy around $500, they're mostly going to answer Rotel. But if you ask
- about amps or pre-amps, Rotel is only going to be one of many names to be
- mentioned.
- I don't see why a failure in one component should be some kind
- of death knell for a company's entire line.
- To get right down to it, I own a NAD receiver and think it's the
- greatest thing since sliced bread. While I suspect that the NAD CD player
- isn't the greatest of components (having heard low opinions from more
- than one source), I think it's just plain stupid to slag all of NAD's stuff
- because of their CD player alone.
- Just random kibbitzing.
