- So what? So the evidence used in the original trial is highly questionable.
- At what time was McFarland telling the truth? When he testified to Congress
- before North or after North? The testimonies were inconsistent. I presume that
- every witness in the trial watched the nationally broadcast Congressional inquiry
- and every witness had their recollection of events altered. And every witness
- could alter their version of events to account for North's version.
-
- I'm reminded of the Willie Smith trial. The accusor gave many depositions over
- an extended period of time. The defense was able to study these depositions
- for months and to use them to rebut her testimony. Willie Smith and his lawyers
- created a version of events that he testified to without having any depositions
- available as rebuttal. This version of events was the version the lawyers decided
- would have the best effect on the jury.
-
- To repeat: every witness could alter their version of events to account for
- what they knew would be North's version.
