- Just a comment on r's dropped and picked up. My brother Robert and I were
- raised in New York not to "speak like the natives."(My parents are from the
- Midwest). We learned to thread our way through Nwe York-ese and even served as
- uncomfortable examples of how to speak. One day, Robert, at age 6 came home
- from Sunday school. When asked what he had learned, he replied, "We learned
- about guard!"
