  10. Just a comment on r's dropped and picked up.  My brother Robert and I were
  11. raised in New York not to "speak like the natives."(My parents are from the
  12. Midwest).  We learned to thread our way through Nwe York-ese and even served as
  13. uncomfortable examples of how to speak.  One day, Robert, at age 6 came home
  14. from Sunday school.  When asked what he had learned, he replied, "We learned
  15. about guard!"
