- I'm posting this to the net in hopes that others aren't
- suckered into this scheme. Yes, unfortunately, they
- are legit. However, I didn't get what I thought I'd get.
- Basically, you pay the $15 and they send you the forms from
- the Social Security Administration. That's all they do.
- You fill out the forms and mail to the appropriate office
- of the Social Security Administration shown on the form.
- It's been a while since I've done this, but I believe you
- also have to show proof of
- birth (like a birth certificate) which the Social Security
- Office will return to you within 10 days. The Social Security
- Office will then send you the social security card for your
- child. In short, you're paying a company $15.00 to provide
- you with forms which are free to the public. All you have
- to do is call the Social Security office and request the forms!
- Most accountants keep them in stock. So, if you use an
- accountant, you can get the forms there. Also, benefit
- offices at large companies also stock the forms.
-
- In short, you can save yourself $15 by making a phone call.
- Basically federal record service corp is charging $15 for
- forms that are free to the public!
