- We are investigating nannies after our efforts at finding a good
- daycare (with a vacancy) seem to have failed.
-
- We are looking for care for our seven week old daughter and are of
- this opinion:
-
- when she is so small, she needs her basic needs met and we don't want
- her to have to wait in line behind 2-4 other infants (ratios range
- from 3:1 at centres we can't get into 'cause of the wait, to 5:1 and
- even 6:1 at places we CAN get into). We are very fortunate in that
- we can afford a nanny; some moms can't and have no alternative to
- this kind of care. This saddens me.
-
- However, I'm sure at SOME age the stimulation of other children
- wins out over staying at home with a nanny. What's that age?
-
- We believe that part-time care might be better than full; some kids are
- in care 11 hours a day. Is there an ideal limit? 3 or 4 hours?
-
- We are considering a nanny (in our home). In some ways I'd like
- it if that nanny brought her kid(s) and in other ways I think
- those kid(s) would vie for nanny time and my daughter is still too
- young to benefit from other kids, other than to catch colds.
-
- I hesitate to post this because I don't want it to turn into
- criticism of other people's childcare arrangements. I just want
- some feedback; if you are inclined to criticize a particular
- arrangement, maybe it would be best to send me mail?
