- Quoting a message from WILLIAM MOORE to BOB UPSON
-
- BU>Who owned the camera and was the cameraman on premises legally?
-
- Can't answer that question... There was only one person (of the eight
- who produced the video) who was NOT a member of NAVAC. Perhaps it was
- his/hers...
-
- BU>If the camera didn't belong to the company and the cameraman was
- there
- BU>legally, the company has no claim on the winnings. They may not be
- BU>pleased with the members for not turning over the money, but the
- company
- BU>has no 'right' to it, IMHO.
-
- Ah... but the ambulance they used (with full lights in a residential
- neighborhood), the hypo and other EMS equipment was the property of
- NAVAC... Remember also that one of the 8 was the Vice President of the
- company... The camera was simply the recorder... the props which gave
- the video authenticity belong to NAVAC.
-
- WM| Regardless of who owned the camera or their right to be on the
- property
- | they were still using very expenesive resources that were not their
- own.
- | I imagine that NAVAC would be held responsible for any MVA during
- the
- | period they were using it and any consequential damage may have
- removed
- | valuable resources from the public usage. In my humble opinion, at
- the
- | very least all participants should have been censured for misuse of
- | NAVAC property. The first message in this thread also mention that
- no
- | member should profit as a result of belonging to NAVAC and isn't
- that
- | what they did?
-
- As a point of clarification, one of the members wrote a letter to the
- editor shortly after the article appeared... He indicated that the rig
- was "out of service" prior to their use. Also the NAVAC constitution,
- he said, does not prohibit members from making money from their
- association with NAVAC but rather enjoins them from personal gains in
- the =performance= of their duties. Since the video was not their
- duty,
- per se, they were (are) not prohibited from accepting the prize money.
