- What I can't understand is how anyone can communicate with those
- insane fidonet addresses. I mean, how can anyone remember anything
- like user@p0.f2.n373.z1.FIDONET.ORG, when user@b11.ingr.com or
- divot@cdthq.uucp is available?
-
- Particularly when there are at least five Fido<-->internet gateways,
- each screwing up addresses a little differently, turning loose floods
- of old articles with munged headers to waste bandwidth (the subject
- of many flamewars in the news.admin.misc group).
-
- :-)
-
- Actually, considering the humongous hack that makes up the internet
- (herein referring to all the interconnected networks, including Fido),
- I'm amazed that over 50% of the mail gets delivered. My rejection
- rate seems to stay down around 5%...and that's to sites country- and
- world-wide.
-
- (Too bad RFC822 and RFC1036 weren't around when Fido was created.)
