  29. NCD terminals can use either IEN-116 or DNS for name server. Not NIS.

  31. The good part is every Sun has an IEN-116 server builtin. It is in.tnamed (note
  32. the "t") and is configured from /etc/inetd.conf. By default it is enabled.
  33. If you want to use that, make sure the NCD's are configured to use IEN116
  34. not DNS.

  36. Whether or not your Sun is a NIS master server, NIS slave server, or NIS client,
  37. or unrelated to NIS doesn't matter.
  38. My guess is you accidently removed something else as well when you changed
  39. NIS.

  41. You can also have your Sun be a DNS server for the NCD terminals. This does
  42. NOT imply that the sun needs to use DNS itself. Setting up a DNS server is
  43. a not-so-trivial task. I can post or mail how to do that if anybody is
  44. interested. (In January... today is the last active/sober day of the year
  45. for me.)
