Look into the following:
1. For files access for Netware or UNIX users, you will need either Netware NFS on the Netware 3.11 server, or Netware for UNIX on the UNIX system. One of the
latest LAN Magezine covered a review of the various Netware-UNIX connectivity
software. The main emphasis was the Sun SparcStation and the introduction of
Sunlink Netware for the Sparc.
2. For e-mail between Netware world and UNIX world, you will need a Novell
MHS to SMTP gateway. Novell is suppose to come out with a NLM version
of the MHS, SMTP, and X.400 protocols under the Netware Global Messaging
suite.
Novell MHS is used as the "post office" of PC-based e-mail systems, where
SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is used as the e-mail transport between
UNIX and TCP/IP-based e-mail systems. So, to exchange e-mail, you will need a
gateway setup.
3. If you need for your PC to access both Netware and UNIX systems at the
same time, then you can configure your PC to support dual protocol stack
-- basically support IPX and TCP/IP protocols. This way, you can login
to the Netware server and the UNIX host at the same time. If you want to
exchange files, you can either use Kermit to transfer files during your
Telnet terminal sessions, use FTP, or setup NFS virtual drives using
