  18. I have successfully booted my SE with a floptical.  It takes
  19. forever, though, so I have an emergency disk set up with my hard
  20. drive's system folder and a few utilities, but of course I usually
  21. boot off the HD.  I use the Floptical primarily for backup (with
  22. DiskFit Pro).  I have also standardized formatting of my various
  23. disks with FWB's Hard Disk Toolkit PE (the "Lite" version).  Both
  24. DFP and HDT are great programs.  HDT also contains an extension
  25. which will recognise removable drives at bootup even if they're
  26. empty (this applies to Flopticals, SyQuest, etc.).

  28. My main complaint about Flopticals is that they seem relatively
  29. slow.  I have never used any other removable media other than
  30. floppies, though, so I can't compare.  One other quirk is that the
  31. disk doesn't always seat just right; I have learned to insert the
  32. disks with care and do a little maneuver with my finger that gets
  33. the drive to notice there's a disk there.

  35. I use the PLI drive.  As mentioned, it's primarily for backups,
  36. and I also use it when I download stuff rather than putting it
  37. straight onto my HD.
