  12. Well , I just installed stacker 3.0 on three machines(all licenced versions)
  13. I had no problems with my Zeos machine installed like a charm nor with a packar
  14. d bell. But when it came to a IBM true blue PS/2 model with a 60 meg hard drive
  15. I received and error #083 (undocumented of course) seek failure during stacking
  16. . This cause a STACVOL.DSK file to be produce with most of the hard drive in th
  17. at file. The .DSK would not mount and no documented procedures would correct
  18. the problem. After spending 2 hours getting a busy signal from STAC
  19. I finally got a tech. (and waited on hold for 30 min.) we proceded to create th
  20. e stacvol.dsk with the /p /=p parameter(not in the manual) and then unstacked
  21. the drive. This was sucessful and all was recovered, but the error indicates
  22. a hardware error but under extensive testing with diskfix and disk doctor
  23. I was unable to find any thing wrong with the harddrive. This machine was setup
  24.  
  25. and installed by IBMwith a standard IBM hardrive. PCTOOLS reports that the dis
  26. k is translated by the PS/2 and so the actual number of heads and cyclinders
  27. is not know. I could not do a low level on it (at least not from DISKFIX).
  28. I am not sure as to weather to try stacker again or not. Has anybody else run
  29. into this situation and,if so how did you fix it????
