  14. I am soon going to be purchasing a used IBM PC/AT, and had a
  15. few questions that I hope to have answered before I make the
  16. purchase final.

  18. The system I will be getting consists of the following parts:

  20. o IBM PC/AT w/640K RAm
  21. o SeaGate 20 Megabyte Hard drive
  22. o 5.25" 1.2 Megabyte high density Disk Drive (1)
  23. o 5.25" 360K Disk Drive (1)
  24. o IBM CGA Monitor (and card)
  25. o IBM AT Keyboard

  27. I am currently using a machine very similar to the one that
  28. I am going to hopefully be purchacing.  The differences in
  29. the two machines are as follows:

  31. o The monitor on this one is a monochrome monitor
  32. o There is 512K in this computer (there will be 640K in mine).
  33. o It may wind up being a monochrome monitor after all ($275 for
  34.   the whole system, not $300).

  36. All other hardware is the same.  I ran Norton's SI.EXE program
  37. on this PC/AT and came up with the following information:

  48. DOS reports 512 K-bytes of memory:
  49.     47 K-bytes used by DOS and resident programs
  50.    465 K-bytes available for application programs
  51. A search for active memory finds:
  52.    512 K-bytes main memory     (at hex 0000-8000)
  53.     32 K-bytes display memory  (at hex B000-B800)

  55.   Computing Index (CI), relative to IBM/XT: 5.9
  56.        Disk Index (DI), relative to IBM/XT: 2.5

  58. Performance Index (PI), relative to IBM/XT: 4.7

  60. What speed does this system run at (in MHz)?  Also, is $300 a
  61. good price for such a system?  (I think so..)

  63. Are there any problems with a machine of this type?  Is there
  64. anything I should know or watch out for as far as the hardware
  65. is concerned?  Thanks for your help.
