- I pulled the motherboard out of my 386/20 DX today and installed a Cyrix
- 387. When I put it back together and turned the computer on, I got an
- error message on bootup that said:
-
- XCMOS checksum error
-
- So, I figured the 387 was causing problems and removed it, but the error
- message was still there. Also, in the setup screen my memory access is
- now listed at 1 wait state instead of 0. This makes the memory check on
- bootup very slow.
-
- Norton SI 6.0 couldn't find anything wrong with the CMOS, and the system
- configuration is constant so I don't think I have a battery problem.
-
- I would like to know: what is XCMOS, and what do I need to do to get it
- working? A 386/20 is slow enough without halfing memory access time.
-
- Thanks.
