- PROMOTING DISPLAYS TO SCANDBL MODES
- ===================================
-
- Program uses OS to OpenScreen
- -----------------------------
-
- If the program is not bootblock loader type, you double click the
- DBLNTSC or DBLPAL monitor first then you execute the new Degrader with the
- PROMOTEALL option and it should be fine. Another option is to turn
- promotion
- on from preferences but this doesn't catch all cases (ie programs which
- specify the monitor as PAL or NTSC - Dpaint 4.0).
-
- If the program does load from the bootblock, you do have a change if
- you
- run the bootblock from a program (not by reseting). But you must of course
- make sure that promotion will occur.
-
- Program uses graphics primatives (LoadView etc)
- -----------------------------------------------
-
- This looks like a bit of a hack but I beleive it is possible with some.
-
- Program hits the hardware, does own copperlists etc
- --------------------------------------------------
-
- This is what most bootblock loading type games do and many others as
- well. Currently I know of no way. I tried having a double scan screen
- just like the screen the program was going to open before I tried it. No
- go,
- it looks like BLPCON0 needs a bit set for a start and since that is always
- written to by the program that hits the hardware no hope.
-
- Main Problems
- -------------
-
- You need all that monitor junk before you can run a mode that requires that
- monitor.
-
- Programs that hit the hardware, hit registers that must be set in a certain
- way by the looks of it.
