- You can thank the early users of OS/2 1.0 for this feature. Remember
- that when OS/2 1.0 was released there were few if any extended keyboards
- with separate number keypads. Most users used the keypads as arrow keys.

- Therefore, IBM programmers received tons of complaints when they turned
- on the NumLock key automatically as was originally the default. Because
- IBM likes to be consistent (not a bad thing to be) they have never
- changed it back now that extended keyboards are more common.
