- I think it depends on many things including how many drives you
- are hanging off the bus. The local bus will be faster if you have
- one huge drive hanging off it, since it operates at CPU speed
- and EISA at 8.33 MHz. The EISA bus will work better if you have
- several drive controllers (wonder if SCSI on local bus is possible)
- and you need to arbitrate/buffer the read/writes.

- You know, everyone talks as though VLB and EISA are exclusive to each
- other and wouldn't (shouldn't?) be found on the same motherboard. Not
- true. Each has its use, and putting both on a motherboard shouldn't
- be all that difficult, and would be a good way to get the benefits of
- both in one package.
