  14. Hi, 
  15.   I'm using the version-control on emacs (actually epoch
  16. 4.0p2).  I was wondering if it even works right?  I usually
  17. save quite often (about every 5 minutes), but I don't get as
  18. many numbered backup files ($FILE.~n~).  my kept-old-versions
  19. and kept-new-versions are set to 50, and version-control is t.
  20. Recently I looked to see if at least the last backup is the
  21. correct and saw that it is not.  (I have file.~1~ thru
  22. file.~16~, and of course "file", but file.~16~ is a pretty old
  23. version (I saved a lot before that version)).
  24.      So I tried to edit a file just to see if the backup
  25. version thing works.  I changed just one character, and saved,
  26. did that 13 (lucky number) times.  What i got was just the
  27. original saved file, and the newest file.  (file.c and
  28. file.c.~1~).

  30.     I hope you understood why I explained...
  31. If you did, and know what the problem is, and how to solve it,
  32. please reply by mail, because this is the only way I do
  33. backups.

  36. (thru emacs), please do tell.
