  12. My friend recently gave me his old Hayes 9600 minus the instruction book.

  14. I tried in vain to connect at 9600 with other BBSs that have v32 and v32.bis modems.  My friend says that this older modem has v32.

  16. So, is my friend wrong or is there something I can to force to stay in highspeedmode ?
