- I am interested in buying a high speed modem. I have zeroed in on either
- a Hayes Optima 14.4k or a Intel Satisfaxtion 400/e. I can't seem to
- decide on either. My biggest question is being able to connect with other
- modems at high speed. One thing I remember hearing about was if you had a
- Hayes modem and you tried to connect to a USR Dual Standard, you could not
- connect at 9600 or higher. You could only connect at 2400, because the
- protocol was proprietary. This of course was a couple of years ago. I am
- wondering if this is still the case? Can anyone who has these modems tell
- how successful they have been in connecting to BBS's or Public Internet
- Sites that have high speed connections?
