  10. I am interested in buying a high speed modem.  I have zeroed in on either 
  11. a Hayes Optima 14.4k  or a Intel Satisfaxtion 400/e.  I can't seem to 
  12. decide on either.  My biggest question is being able to connect with other 
  13. modems at high speed.  One thing I remember hearing about was if you had a 
  14. Hayes modem and you tried to connect to a USR Dual Standard, you could not 
  15. connect at 9600 or higher.  You could only connect at 2400, because the 
  16. protocol was proprietary.  This of course was a couple of years ago.  I am 
  17. wondering if this is still the case?  Can anyone who has these modems tell 
  18. how successful they have been in connecting to BBS's or Public Internet 
  19. Sites that have high speed connections?
