- i use carbon copy for windows to dial in and take control of the personal
- computer and gain access of the network. it includes a windows based file
- transfer utility to move files between the machines. the modems on both ends
- are satisfaction 400es. overall, i am very pleased with the setup and use it
- frequently. i allows me to gain access to the network scheduler and phone
- log (packrat), the mainframe host (via rumba) and all the other windows
- programs. it is not realistic at less than 9600 baud and even then i avoid
- some programs that have heavy graphic screens; it can take forever to paint
- the remote screen. i use the password protection features and call back
- options.
-
- it does require some patience. running windows remotely at even higher speeds
- is a challenge. you quickly learn to avoid certains types of operations.
-
- as a side note carbon copy for windows loads and runs while windows is
- running. it is not loaded at the dos prompt. you can access dos by starting
- a dos session. i also seem to remember that it will not support full-screen
- dos sessions.
