- MANILA, Philippines (UPI) -- The Philippines will auction off former first
- lady Imelda Marcos' jewels in May 1993 and expects to earn as nuch as $18
- million, a senior official said Tuesday.

- Magtanggol Gunigundo, chairman of an agency formed to recover wealth
- allegedly plundered by Mrs. Marcos and her late husband Ferdinand, indicated
- Christies will conduct the auction in Geneva, Switzerland.

- The jewels include those being kept inside a vault at the Philippine Central
- Bank and items seized by customs authorities in Honolulu, where the Marcoses
- fled after the 20-year ruler was deposed in a popular army revolt in 1986.
