- David's note to Raul suggests that we train TAs (I will accept any substitute
- for the word "train" anyone wants, including "confuse") either just before
- and/or during their first experience as teachers. May I suggest the medical
- internship model? First they learn what they are going to do and then they
- get trials at doing it under very close supervision. We take undergraduates
- and put them into clinical practice with only marginal supervision, and almost
- none of that in the actual work situation, and expect th;em to cure more than
- they kill. It is an unreasonable expectation.
