  23. The U.S. Department of Education's National Center for
  24. Education Statistics (NCES) announces the release of the
  25. data tape, "Public Elementary and Secondary School
  26. Membership, Graduates, and Staff, by State: School Years
  27. 1983-84 through 1990-91." The data on the tape are the
  28. final counts on public elementary and secondary school
  29. staff, graduates, and membership, by grade, for school
  30. years 1983-84 through 1990-91.

  32. The data are obtained from the "State Nonfiscal Survey of
  33. Public Elementary and Secondary Education, School Years
  34. 1987-88 through 1990-91"; and from the "State Nonfiscal
  35. Report, School Years 1983-84 through 1986-87." Both data
  36. sets are from the Common Core of Data series collected
  37. annually by NCES from the 50 states, the District of
  38. Columbia, and the outlying areas and are as of September
  39. 3, 1991.

  41. The data with documentation are available on diskette for $75 or
  42. on magnetic tape for $175. Payment may be in the form of a check
  43. or money order (payable to the U.S. Department of Education), or
