- natural global temperature, or is the climate of the last X years the norm?

- There was a period of time from about the 800 to 1400 AD in which the
- global temperature was significantly warmer than today. Such a rise and
- fall in temperature facilitated the rise and fall of Viking marauding due
- to calmer sees. Also, in 1820 something, Tambora exploded and it actually
- snowed in someplace like London or New York, in JULY!

- So key to the whole "global warming" debate is what is Earth's "normal"
- temperature, along with the what kind of "normal" deviations should be
- expect over what period of time.
