  12. I'm told that Tolkien, through some error, did not ever copyright
  13. "The Lord of the Rings" or "The Hobbit". Although one book company
  14. pays him royalties nonetheless, there have been other book companies
  15. which (annoyingly?) have published the works without his permission
  16. (or even knowledge!).
