  14. Note to Kalki: I have two book by the Bhaktivedanta Institute.
  15. One titled "Think on These Things," and the other is a vegetarian
  16. cook book. While I enjoyed both books, I found both of them to
  17. be filled with lies, bold assertions, half-truths, and agendas:
  18. even the cook book!

  33. When I was out spreading the Word of No God, my co-Evangelical
  34. Atheist buddy pointed out one reason Creationists attack scientists,
  35. biologists, astronomers, physicists, and other well-educated folks.

  37. You see, the Creationists is just an average Joe (or Sally) who
  38. believe that intelligent people "look down on" the ignorant in
  39. derision and loathing. Creationists hear and read scientists
  40. talking, and the Creationists doesn't understand, so they fear
  41. their own ignorance. Then when a scientists make a complex subject,
  42. such as evolutionary theory, simple for the ignorant to understand,
  43. the ignorant are insulted because they feel they are being "taked
  44. down to." It is therefore a lose-lose situation for the scientist.

  46. The ignorant (in this case the Creationists) view the educated
  47. and well-informed with part awe and part hate, because the ignorant
  48. cannot compete on an equal level. The ignorant come to see that
  49. they have no beneficial input in a rational, informative discussion,
  50. and they resent that--- their target, therefore, is the educated
  51. and not their own ignorance.

  53. It is oh so much more easier to attempt to drag down the educated
  54. instead of pulling oneself up out of ignorance. Case in point is
  55. The Tedster, who is "one of the few people on the planet who
  56. truly understands the origins issue. [paraphrase]" The ignorant
  57. would rather believe in magic instead of putting forth the hard
  58. work and effort to learn something.

  64. As a "P.S.," I count -myself- as ONE OF THE IGNORANT. That's
  65. why I'm reading this newsgroup. I view Colby, Salem, and Meritt
  66. with awe (smile, guys!) because they appear much better educated
  67. than I, yet that is not cause for me to dispise them: that is
  68. cause for me to learn something so I -can- understand them.
