- I never said that the statement has any more validity for men than women.
- I stated that I can think of plenty of guys who would abort if men could
- get pregnant and these guys did. You equated from what I said that I gave
- validity to men over women. Please don't twist my words.
-
- Having said that, I would like to say that I made the statement that I
- did based on my own informal opinion. For quite a few years I worked as
- a bartender/waiter while putting myself through under and post graduate
- school. I knew many, many people of both sexes and I was party to
- knowledge of women getting pregnant from boyfriends, friends, etc. Many
- of the men who got the women pregnant wanted the women to abort the child.
- In fact, many more men wanted abortions than men who wanted the woman to
- carry to term. Yes, there were men who really wanted to have children,
- but they were definitely in the minority. I will admit that the people
- I met in my environment are not necessarily the cream of society, but I
- simply stated an opinion.
-
- >I am one such person...
-
- Any so am I. When I was still single 8 years ago, my girlfriend/fiancee
- at that time got pregnant by me. When she asked for my advice, I said
- that we should keep that baby and that it'd be great, but that was my
- opinion and it was her body, even though it was my baby. She chose to
- abort. 2 months after this, she decided to sow some more wild oats and
- she left me. A year later, I got a phone call one night from her and
- she could hardly talk as she was crying so much. It seems one of her
- latest conquests had gotten her pregnant. I offered to do anything for
- her. She said she wanted another abortion and this time I tried everything
- in my power once again to persuade her to NOT abort, even to carry to
- term and give me the child. She refused and I then went with her once
- again while she had the abortion. I was even more disconsolate and sad
- this time.
-
- Funny thing . . . I'm married to a really wonderful person and we're
- going on our third "surprise". Nos. 1 and 2 are incredible. As for my
- old girlfriend/fiancee, she's now divorced from her husband and
- terribly depressed since now she wants children (the main reason she
- and hubby split up) and doesn't have any. Plus, her brother keeps
- reminding her how she "screwed up" when she had the chance with me.
- She even admitted the same to me one day recently. I told her I would
- have gladly carried the baby back 8 years ago if I could've.
