- I had a couple of questions and I was hoping I could get an answer or two here.
- I learned to drive a standard when I was 15 and I always wondered if when you
- press the clutch if the engine and driveshaft are completely diengaged or if
- there is still some friction between the clutch plates?
-
- I also got a new vehicle this weekend and in the operator's manual it stated
- that when stopping the car, to apply the brakes and then right before stopping
- completely to push in the clutch. I've always pressed in the clutch before I
- pressed on the brake. Is this wrong? It just seems to me to try to brake the
- engine via the wheels (i.e. with the clutch engaged) seems odd.
-
- Also, could someone describe what exactally is the toe/heel method of shifting
- and how/what is double clutching?
-
- Lastly, are there any good references on this stuff?? The more technical the
- better!!!
-
- Thanks, and pardon my ignorance.
