- I agree that there seems to be a need for an audio group dedicated to
- budget-limited audiophiles. I don't think that people are looking for a
- group dedicated to the el-cheapo garbage that is so prevalent in the
- market, but rather the few products that actually perform very well and
- are priced for the budget-conscious (such as the typical college
- student). Examples that occur to me would be the Panasonic SL-NP1A CD,
- ($150), the PSB Alpha's (~$200), used NYAL Moscode Amplifiers
- (~$250-300), DIY Passive preamps (~$20-100), DIY RG-58 interconnects,
- etc. etc. I'm sure there are many people out there who have managed to
- put together very rewarding and musical systems on peanuts, and who are
- now either unwilling or intimidated to post their ideas/experiences/
- comments on either of the rec.audio groups for fear of vicious flame-
- responses. The problem with, say a rec.audio.budget group, would be
- rampant cross-posting, and even worse the resulting cross-flaming that
- is inherent in related but unmoderated newsgroups. It even shows up on
- rec.audio and sci.electronics from time to time! Just my $.02..
