- Have you tried Sony Metal Select? I've been using them lately, they
- appear to be identical to Sony Metal ES, but are only $1.99 each from
- J&R Music World. (I'm don't know if they replace the ES line, or are
- some kind of parallel import.) I've never heard distortion or loss of
- highs using Select or ES, even peaking at +10 dB.
- I agree with bushnell@lmsc.lockheed.com that it is important to reduce
- the bias slightly --- the bias control on most low and moderate priced
- decks does NOT work for the Metal IV position! Check your owners
- manual; if this is case with yours, you need to find a higher-bias
- tape. (Didn't some magazine have a report on tapes a while back, that
- included information on bias?)
