- Sir,
-
- You should really consider getting some facts before spouting such
- tripe!
-
- The "boys in the big city" to whom you are referring are following
- local
- protocols. Said Protocols were adopted and implemented by both our
- Medical Director and MAC Committee.
-
- They were adopted for a very specific reason: the use of the
- leg straps was found NON-beneficial and possibly deleterious to the
- patient. When applied to a patient in the sitting position it becomes
- almost impossible to the lie the patient supine on a long board with
- out
- then having to readjust the straps and move the legs, both of which can
- and do cause movement to the lower spine. Also of note should be the
- fact that a KED was designed to provide CERVICAL spine protection NOT
- full spinal immobilization. The C-Spine IS adequately protected w/o the
- use of leg straps.
-
- In short, it would seem that you believe that anyone who does not agree
- with YOUR methods of doing things is lazy or looking for a short cut.
- This does not bode well for someone who is in a business were change in
- procedures and knowledge is the norm..
