- WJV||NJFAC member squads are "supposed to" adhere to basic level of
- training
- ||(EMT-A & CPR). If they don't fall under the NJFAC, then they will
- abide t
- ||the NJ Dept. of Health regs. This was, as I remember it, a
- compromise agr
- ||to. I believe OEMS has no power to make any regs. The political
- powers al
- ||NJFAC to oversee the Volunteer Squads. I believe the Fed. Highway
- Safety A
- ||(1974??) started the ball rolling.
-
- Actually, The Commissioner of Health does have the authority. The
- problem has been that the people who have occupied that office have
- chosen, for varying reasons, to not exercise that authority. The
- Department of Health has Administrative authority over all health
- related professions, including EMT's and Medics.
-
- As for the NJFAC, I can think of at least 7 squads off the top of my
- head, who are members of the Council and do not abide by the minimum
- standards. Haven't for years and the Council has neither taken or
- attempted to take any type of action on the issue.
-
- The sad part is that the ones who will wind up taking the brunt of the
- effects of this lack of regulation is the public>
