-
- Our fire department (Cypress Creek Volunteer Fire Department, located in
- Northwest unincorperated Harris County, Houston, Texas) has a pretty good
- reimbursement policy. A firefighter attending a training session or conference
- outside of the department who has the chief's approval will have all expences
- acquired during transportation to and from, lodging, meals, fees, parking,
- etc. reimbursed. There are some requirements, however.
-
- 1. FF's must fill out an expenditure request form before a
- pre-determined dead-line
- 2. FF's must fill out an out-of-department training form
- 3. The chief and captain of the respective station must sign
- both forms
- 4. The FF must log his/her mileage
- 5. The FF must retain all of his/her receipts
- 6. The FF must return with a certificate for completing the course
- 7. After returning, the FF must fill out a reimbursement request
- form, where he/she must list all expenditures under certain
- categories, such as mileage ($.26 per mile), gas, lunch, supper,
- breakfast, hotel-motel, etc.......
-
- 8. ALL RECEIPTS MUST BE TURNED IN WITH THE REIMBURSEMENT FORM
- BECAUSE ONLY THOSE ITEMS WILL BE REIMBURSED
-
- I believe that if a FF paid for 2 lunches for one day, he/she would be
- responsible for one of those (2 lunches, 1 breakfast, 1 supper during one day
- for himself/herself.) Also, spending $40.00 at Red Lobster for yourself might
- cause you to receive wry looks from the cheif =)
-
- The above rules apply to training schools, training seminars, and expos.
- The chief must approve the expences (they will reserve a hotel/motel for you),
- the training, and the reimbursement. I wish to stress that this is
- REIMBURSEMENT UPON SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION, if for training.
-
- I hope this information will help someone.
