- Another problem I can imagine; if we learn a few phrases,
- and ask a question, the patient may assume we understand
- their language. We may learn some phrases, but how would
- we understand what they are saying back? In the field, it
- would seem inappropriate, IMHO. Maybe in the hospital
- setting however, where they have computers right at
- hand??? <maybe>. I can think of one field use, making up
- flash type cards with the program. It could explain that
- there is only a limited understanding of the language, ask
- a specific question, and in both languages... have a
- choice of replies. One problem here is, it'd be suggestive
- to the patient's symptoms, and we try to avoid that, but
- in an emergency... where you'd have no idea of the problem
- anyway, it'd be something.
