  13. I am looking for some information on PC BIOS.  The specific questions
  14. are:

  16. 1)  I assume that the BIOS for each PC is "fine-tuned" for the 
  17.     particular chip set used to implement the PC.  Is this true?
  18.  
  19. 2)  Are there companies that will sell BIOS code that can be
  20.     modified for a specific platform?  Who are they?  What is
  21.     the cost for the code/royalties/etc?
  22.  
  23. 3)  Does there exist a BIOS implementation that will boot the
  24.     operating system from a PCMCIA memory card?  Who has it?
  25.     what products was it used on?  If not, is there a BIOS that
  26.     supports a PCMCIA memory card on a PC?
