- According to the November 1992 issue of Byte which I just bought, at least
- the PS/Valuepoint 386SLC model uses a Cirrus 5422 chip for the video.
- This same chip is used by AST and Digital for their low priced models.
-
- I've never heard of this Cirrus chip, but it's reported by Byte as being
- fairly fast. Gave speeds similar to the Compaq 386/33, which I believe
- uses the Tseng ET4000.
-
- Also the Byte article did not mention if they use this same Cirrus chip
- in the uppper end 486 PS/Valuepoint models. It is quite possible that they
- do use a Tseng ET4000, which would explain why IBM wrote the drivers for
- OS/2 first for the Tseng. OS/2 does not come with the 386 model, only
- the 486 model.(because of RAM, not processor speed).
-
-
- We're going to be submitting an order for a 486/33 PS Valuepoint with the
- 15" flat screen monitor this week. I will have a better idea of what's
- actually in the computer when we receive it. I'll post a summary at that time.
