  15. Join the Ultrasound mailing list. There are plenty of people who are
  16. proud Ultrasound owners in there, from Canada to Australia. And by
  17. joining the list, you have all sorts of knowledgeable people answering
  18. your question including Gravis themselves. There is a mailserver and a
  19. ftp site which contains our archive of files with everything from info
  20. text files/announcements to software, demos....etc. And fixes/patches
  21. will also be available there as Gravis release them. Here is the info...

  29.     There's been a lot of talk lately about the Gravis Ultrasound,
  30. as well as the mailing list for it.  I thought I'd put in my two cents
  31. worth on the topic, as I happen to know a little about the mailing
  32. list... I'm the administrator.  :)
  33.  
  34.     First and foremost, as of about 6 hours ago, the mailing list
  35. stopped being a mailing list and became a digest.  This is a
  36. compilation of messages that is mailed out once a day, 2am MST.  I
  37. know there are some people out there who won't like this, but I really
  38. had no choice.  Readership just reached 300, and the problems of
  39. maintaing a reflector kept getting worse and worse.  There were also
  40. complaints about the volume of messages that were going out, so
  41. putting them all into one message may help these problems.  I can
  42. always alter the frequency of a digest being sent out depending on the
  43. volume of mail we get with this new format.
  44.  
  45.     Also new is that Advanced Gravis Corp. is one of the
  46. subscribers to the digest.  That means any problems that are found and
  47. posted to the digest will be in the hands of the engineers at Gravis
  48. very quickly.

  50.     The digest is complemented by a mail request server.
  51. Currently, there's not a lot on the server.  However, a FAQ is being
  52. made up to go there.  Also, as soon as I get a little time, I'll put
  53. up several different reviews of the card, a hardware description as
  54. grokked by one of the digest readers, the Big List O' Games and how
  55. they interact with the Ultrasound as soon as it is released, and
  56. anything else I can find.

  58.     We're also negotiating to get some space on an FTP site so you
  59. don't have to use the mail server.  Also on the FTP site will be
  60. programs and data submitted by users.  Gravis has also planned to open
  61. a BBS, and one of the members of the digest has volunteered to
  62. download anything they put up there, and copy it over to our FTP site.

  64.     If you're even just THINKING about getting an Ultrasound, I'd
  65. suggest joining the digest.  You can ask questions if you've got
  66. trouble, you can get the latest info on the card and daughterboards,
  67. find the best in PD software for it, etc., etc.

  70. signed up.  This is also the address for accessing the mailserver.
