  10. We have 3 phone numbers to use for our upstream mail/Usenet feed.  They
  11. are listed in our 'Systems' file consecutively in the order they are to
  12. be called:

  14. gwinnett Any;1 ACU,g 2400 9999999 in:-BREAK-in: XXX word: YYY
  15. gwinnett Any;1 ACU,g 2400 9999999 in:-BREAK-in: XXX word: YYY
  16. gwinnett Any;1 ACU,g 2400 9999999 in:-BREAK-in: XXX word: YYY

  18. where "9999999" is the phone number, "XXX" is the user id and "YYY" is
  19. the password.  The phone numbers in our Systems file are all different.

  21. The problem is this:  The first phone number is tried, and if it fails,
  22. the other two are attempted, but never actually dialed because uucico
  23. gets a "generic timeout" (that's the oh-so-helpful message from "Uutry
  24. gwinnett -x9").

  26. The log looks like this:

  29. uucp gwinnett  (11/18-14:31:12,7090,0) TIMEOUT (generic open)

  32. uucp gwinnett  (11/18-14:31:32,7090,0) CONN FAILED (CAN'T ACCESS DEVICE)

  34. The FAILED message comes from the actual dial attempt (line was busy),
  35. but then 3 generic open errors.  I would have expected only 2.

  37. Is uucico not closing the modem device while trying to open it for the
  38. next numbers?  Is this a known bug?
