- Faced with a choice of what appears to be 2 GOOD modems, I would
- like to solicit some help/advice/information to make a final
- decision. I acquired an Intel SatisFAXtion/400 and have been quite
- impressed by both the performance of the modem and the level of
- technical support. Downloading a 750K file at 1700 cps was quite
- impressive. The major thing that bothers me is investing $400 in a
- modem that cant go anywhere except in my DOS box. I chose the 400
- over the 400/e because of the added features and lower price. The
- built-in scanner port is a nice way to save a slot, but I'll
- probably run out of interrupts first.
- On the other hand, as Tevye was heard to say, the USR Sportster
- would give me a nice external portable modem, even though I hate the
- ugly plastic box. And the cost of the Sportster combined with WinFax
- Pro is not too different from the Intel.
- What I really need is some good technical reasons to either relax
- and be satisfied with what I have or pull the Intel card out and
- exchange it for the Sportster....Would anyone care to add some
- thoughts to help confuse me???
