  11. I am currently studying towards a BCom Honours degree in Informatin Systems
  12. through the University of Cape Town, South Africa.

  14. In partial fulfilment of the degree I must present a Technical Report on an
  15. area of research. My topic isElectronic Performance Support Systems (EPSS) with
  16. special interest in the use of AI. Expert Systems are currently used but I am
  17. sure there is great possibilities for CBR and neural nets.

  19. The idea behind EPSS is improving the performance of workers by in-context
  20. on-the-job just-in-time support in such a manner that it leads to learning by
  21. the worker. This is a complex process but ispossibly a solution to thee
  22. predicament here in SA where we have the majority of the population with none
  23. or very low skills levels.
