  12. Few institutions of higher learning pay taxes in the same way as industry.
  13. Most are organized as non-profits, many (even state-supported) have
  14. tax-deductible foundations, endowments, that you can contribute to.

  16. Even state supported universities can have "liberal arts colleges"
  17. within them.  My alma mater (University of Michigan) certainly did.
