  4. This README file contains information about enhancements and
  5. changes made to PerfectOffice 3.0 for Windows that were not
  6. documented in the PerfectOffice 3.0 Up and Running Guide.

  8. In addition to this README file, there are separate README files
  9. for specific applications in the suite.  There is also README.NET,
  10. which contains information about running PerfectOffice on a
  11. network; and README.LCN, which contains information about
  12. licencing.

  14. This README file contains the following information.

  16.      1    Using DAD to tile non-PerfectOffice applications
  17.      2    Playing QuickTasks that execute GroupWise commands

  26. USING DAD TO TILE NON-PERFECTOFFICE APPLICATIONS
  27. =================================================================
  28.      The "Tile PerfectOffice Applications" DAD button (located on
  29.      the PerfectOffice DAD bar) arranges open PerfectOffice
  30.      application windows in smaller sizes to fit next to each other
  31.      on the desktop.  You can use this button to tile other
  32.      applications that are open on the desktop by modifying your
  33.      WIN.INI file.

  35.      1    Open the WIN.INI file in Notepad or in another text
  36.      editor.
  37.      2    Search for the [Desktop Application Director] section and
  38.      add entries according to this example: "TileApp#=WRITE.EXE"
  39.      (where # is a number above 7 and WRITE.EXE is the executable
  40.      filename of the application you wish to tile)

  43. PLAYING QUICKTASKS THAT EXECUTE GROUPWISE COMMANDS

  45.      1    When you play a QuickTask that executes a GroupWise
  46.      command on the File menu, the applications involved in the
  47.      QuickTask must already be running.

  50. RUNNING THE PERFECTOFFICE QUICKTOUR ON A SYSTEM USING NON-STANDARD
  51. OEM WINDOWS VIDEO DRIVERS
  52. ==================================================================
  53.      If your system uses a non-standard OEM Windows video driver,
  54.      you may encounter display problems or application errors when
  55.      running the PerfectOffice QuickTour.  If so, try selecting a
  56.      standard video driver, such as VGA or Super VGA 800 x 600, or
  57.      select an OEM driver with a lower resolution.
  58.  
  59.      The QuickTour has been tested on systems equipped with all VGA
  60.      resolutions with good results using standard Windows video
  61.      drivers and common OEM drivers.

  64. CONVENTIONAL MEMORY ON AN IBM THINKPAD
  65. =================================================================
  66.      If you drop below 475K of conventional memory on an IBM
  67.      Thinkpad, DAD cannot be started from the StartUp Group in
  68.      Program Manager.  To solve this problem, you must either free
  69.      up more than 475K of conventional memory, or remove DAD from
  70.      the Startup Group in Program Manager.

  73. USING DAD WHEN RUNNING PERFECTOFFICE ON OS/2
  74. =================================================================
  75.      When running PerfectOffice on OS/2, you should be aware of the
  76.      following limitations regarding the Desktop Application
  77.      Director (DAD):
  78.  
  79.      1    On startup, DAD will always be configured as a palette.
  80.      2    The options Auto Hide and Always on Top are not
  81.      functional in a seamless window.

  84. REPLACING ENVOY 1.0 WITH ENVOY 1.0A
  85. =================================================================
  86.      If you are replacing Envoy 1.0 with Envoy 1.0a, you can delete
  87.      the files in ENVOY\PROGS and remove the directory.  You should
  88.      not try to run Envoy 1.0 after you have installed Envoy 1.0a.

  91. USING DAD WITH PARADOX
  92. =================================================================
  93.      When creating a DAD button for Paradox, you must specify a
  94.      "/b" startup option on the command line to avoid trying to
  95.      start Paradox for a second time if Paradox is already running.

  98. USING UNINSTALL WITH OBEX
  99. =================================================================
  100.      The Uninstall option will not delete the
  101.      \OFFICE\SHARED\OBEX\OBJSTORE subdirectory.  This directory
  102.      contains outgoing and incoming publications sent via OBEX
  103.      using the Publish and Subscribe features available in most
  104.      PerfectOffice applications.  You can delete this directory and
  105.      the files contained therein if you no longer need to publish
  106.      objects or subscribe to objects others have published to you.
