  5. These service diagnostics operate using  WINDOWS. Do NOT run them 
  6. directly from DOS.
  7.

  9. == INSTALATION PROCESS. ==
  10. ==========================

  12. Installation is  not  automatic (although it will be, for  future 
  13. releases).
  14.  
  15.  (1) Create a directory on the destination drive.
  16.  
  17.  (2) Decide whether you want to install the diagnostics:
  18.  
  19.      (a) Without the  help facility  (1.1 Mbytes  necessary - can  
  20.                                       be one floppy disk.)
  21.  
  22.      (b) Including the help facility (2.4 Mbytes necessary - must
  23.                                       be hard disk.)
  24.  
  25.  Note: The diagnostics  program does  not place files outside the 
  26.  ----  directory  you  create. Deleting  the directory  after the 
  27.        tests leaves the PC as it was before the tests.

  29.  (3) Copy the following files to the directory you created.
  30.  
  31.      bc40rtl.dll
  32.      bwcc.dll
  33.      dj250c.exe
  34.      dj250c.ini
  35.  
  36.  (4) IF YOU WANT TO INCLUDE THE HELP FACILITY, then also copy the 
  37.      following files to the directory you created:

  39.            parr0000.hlp     parr0010.hlp      parr0020.hlp         
  40.        parr0001.hlp     parr0011.hlp      parr0021.hlp  
  41.        parr0002.hlp     parr0012.hlp      parr0022.hlp
  42.        parr0003.hlp     parr0013.hlp      parr0023.hlp  
  43.        parr0004.hlp     parr0014.hlp      parr0024.hlp
  44.        parr0005.hlp     parr0015.hlp      parr0025.hlp 
  45.        parr0006.hlp     parr0016.hlp      parr0026.hlp 
  46.        parr0007.hlp     parr0017.hlp      parr0027.hlp  
  47.        parr0008.hlp     parr0018.hlp

  50.  (5) Drag dj250c.exe from the  File Manager to a Program Group to 
  51. create the icon of the program.

  53.  Note: If you use a floppy disk, DO NOT PROTECT it against WRITE. 
  54.  ----  During  the diagnostic  testing, the .ini is modified, and 
  55.        some temporary files are created.

  58. == STARTING THE DIAGNOSTICS. ==

  61.  1- Make sure that the correct serial cable is connected between
  62.     the computer  and  the  plotter (For a 9-pin HP Vectra port,  
  63.     this should be cable with part number 24542G.) 
  64.  
  65.  2- Execute dj250c.exe from the File Manager, or double click on
  66.     the diagnostics icon.
  67.  
  68.  3- Turn on the plotter while pressing the 'SetUp','Read Settings'
  69.     and 'Replot' buttons on the plotter's front panel.

  71.  4- Find out the  serial-port configuration of the plotter. (See 
  72.     SetUp Sheet.)
  73.  
  74.  5- Click on the CONNECT  button  on  the  main  window  of  the 
  75.     diagnostics.
  76.  
  77.  6- Make sure that the computer serial-port configuration matches 
  78.     the plotter's SetUp Sheet.
  79.  
  80.  7- Once connected, perform the individual diagnostics.

  82.  Note: The Y-axis  test  is  quite  long  (especially for E-size  
  83.  ----  plotters).  
  84.  
  85.  Note: You need a special  tool to  perform the  Pen Height test.      
  86.  ----  This tool should be avaliable by November 1995.

  88.  Note: When you  use  the help, sometimes a  Message box with the 
  89.  ----  message  "Help Topic not available" is  shown. This is  a
  90.        small  bug. Just  click OK; the  Help Topic  actually  IS 
  91.        AVAILABLE.
