These service diagnostics operate using  WINDOWS. Do NOT run them 
directly from DOS.

== INSTALATION PROCESS. ==
==========================

Installation is  not  automatic (although it will be, for  future 
releases).

 (1) Create a directory on the destination drive.

 (2) Decide whether you want to install the diagnostics:

     (a) Without the  help facility  (1.1 Mbytes  necessary - can  
                                      be one floppy disk.)

     (b) Including the help facility (2.4 Mbytes necessary - must
                                      be hard disk.)

 Note: The diagnostics  program does  not place files outside the 
 ----  directory  you  create. Deleting  the directory  after the 
       tests leaves the PC as it was before the tests.

 (3) Copy the following files to the directory you created.

	 bc40rtl.dll
	 bwcc.dll
	 dj250c.exe
	 dj250c.ini

 (4) IF YOU WANT TO INCLUDE THE HELP FACILITY, then also copy the 
     following files to the directory you created:

       	parr0000.hlp     parr0010.hlp  	parr0020.hlp 		
   	parr0001.hlp     parr0011.hlp  	parr0021.hlp  
   	parr0002.hlp     parr0012.hlp  	parr0022.hlp
   	parr0003.hlp     parr0013.hlp  	parr0023.hlp  
   	parr0004.hlp     parr0014.hlp  	parr0024.hlp
   	parr0005.hlp     parr0015.hlp  	parr0025.hlp 
   	parr0006.hlp     parr0016.hlp  	parr0026.hlp 
   	parr0007.hlp     parr0017.hlp  	parr0027.hlp  
   	parr0008.hlp     parr0018.hlp  
	parr0009.hlp	 parr0019.hlp		

 (5) Drag dj250c.exe from the  File Manager to a Program Group to 
create the icon of the program.

 Note: If you use a floppy disk, DO NOT PROTECT it against WRITE. 
 ----  During  the diagnostic  testing, the .ini is modified, and 
       some temporary files are created.

== STARTING THE DIAGNOSTICS. ==
===============================

 1- Make sure that the correct serial cable is connected between
    the computer  and  the  plotter (For a 9-pin HP Vectra port,  
    this should be cable with part number 24542G.) 

 2- Execute dj250c.exe from the File Manager, or double click on
    the diagnostics icon.

 3- Turn on the plotter while pressing the 'SetUp','Read Settings'
    and 'Replot' buttons on the plotter's front panel.

 4- Find out the  serial-port configuration of the plotter. (See 
    SetUp Sheet.)

 5- Click on the CONNECT  button  on  the  main  window  of  the 
    diagnostics.

 6- Make sure that the computer serial-port configuration matches 
    the plotter's SetUp Sheet.

 7- Once connected, perform the individual diagnostics.

 Note: The Y-axis  test  is  quite  long  (especially for E-size  
 ----  plotters).  

 Note: You need a special  tool to  perform the  Pen Height test.      
 ----  This tool should be avaliable by November 1995.

 Note: When you  use  the help, sometimes a  Message box with the 
 ----  message  "Help Topic not available" is  shown. This is  a
       small  bug. Just  click OK; the  Help Topic  actually  IS 
       AVAILABLE.
