-
-
- Starting FamiliarBlocks for the first time:
- -------------------------------------------
-
- 1. Double-click the FamiliarBlocks icon on the desktop or, if there
- is no FamiliarBlocks icon, you may start your program by choosing:
- Start|Programs|FamiliarTales|FamiliarBlocks from the taskbar.
-
- 2. If a shortcut icon was not created during installation, we
- recommend that you create one now. This icon is very
- recognizable and will make launching the program much easier
- for your young child. To do this, go to the program directory
- where your files have been installed (the default location is:
- My Computer | C: | Program Files | FamiliarTales | FamiliarBlocks.
- To create a desktop icon, simply select the FamiliarBlocks.exe icon
- with your mouse, hold down the "shift and "control" keys at the
- same time and move the icon to the desktop. A menu will appear.
- Select " Create Shortcut Here" from this menu. (To be certain that
- you have created a "shortcut" and have not copied actual files to
- your desktop, look for a small white box with a black arrow in the
- left-hand corner of the FamiliarBlocks icon. All Shortcut icons
- have this symbol.)
-
- 3. The first time you launch FamiliarBlocks you will be asked to
- personalize it with your child's name. Once you have written your
- child's name, the program will automatically welcome your child
- every time it launches. As an exercise in name recognition, you
- may point the name out to your child.
-
- 4. Click the arrow to continue.
-
- 5. The next screen will include a section called "Getting Started."
- This section, which can also be found on the FamiliarBlocks
- menu bar, is designed to introduce you to the general use features
- of FamiliarBlocks.
