- PROBLEM: A customer was upgrading from NetWare 386 v3.0 to v3.1. He
- was following the instructions step-by-step and everything
- seemed to go fine until he loaded the INSTALL NLM. Upon
- loading INSTALL he received the following error:
-
- Loader cannot find public symbol: DosClose
- Loader cannot find public symbol: SaveMirrorList
- Loader cannot find .................
- . Many other similar errors occur
- . referencing different public symbols
-
- Load file referenced undefined public variable.
- Module INSTALL.NLM not loaded.
-
- SOLUTION: We were wondering if the customer was loading the wrong
- INSTALL.NLM, so we loaded a v3.1 SERVER on a machine in the
- lab. When we tried to load a v3.0 INSTALL.NLM, we
- duplicated the errors. The problem the customer ran into is
- that the volume was mounted and the load loaded off the
- mounted SYS: volume. The load will load off the mounted
- SYS: volume unless told to load from the DOS side.
-
- The bottom line is that these errors occur when people try
- to load v3.0 NLMS with a v3.1 SERVER running.
-
- You will also get these same type errors if you are trying
- to do the upgrade and load the old SERVER.EXE.
-
- (X) This information was verified in the lab.
