  4. How are the PCSA files stored on the VAX?  I know they use a
  5. "virtual volume" and as I understood it, it is NOT compatible
  6. with standard VMR/RMS files and therefore, only PCSA users can
  7. get at them (unlike NetWare VMS).  Is this true?

  9. Answer:
  10. PCSA has the capacity to store files in either Virtual RMS format as we do
  11. or in a container file format.  The container file format means all the
  12. DOS files are really one big RMS file.  I believe there are
  13. utilities to access the files from a VT.  The main reason for
  14. offering both formats is flexibility and performance.  The container method
  15. allows faster file transfer, but no file locking or easy virtual
  16. file access.
